What is the policy about 8.2.x vs 8.3, and support for them? While adding a new feature looks more like 8.3 material, does it mean you'll need to support both 8.2 and 8.3? IMO, if you'd like to avoid it, one can argue the xencontrol patch doesn't touch any kernel side interface, so could be applied to 8.2 (8.2.2) without a risk for regression. Do you think backporting vs2017 support would make sense too?
