16k seems a little small to me. According to Wikipedia the basic interpreter on 
the 48k ZX spectrum could recurse 13792 frames deep. I'm sure we could live 
with a 10 MiB stack (IIRC that's what we currently have, per thread, in XCP/XS 
dom0) :-)

When I'm back at a proper computer I'll have a look at my default stack (on 
mobile device atm)
