I think I did:
speedyU:~# ifconfig

On domain 0 I tried a 
# ifconfig vif1.0 192.168.5.1 pointopoint 192.168.5.2 up
ifconfig shows now the ip and route the route:

but ping to 192.168.5.2 still doesn't work. It doesn't work from domU either.
