This has come up before.

Talk to the OpenBSD folks. Christian Limpach did the work as a NetBSD
developer. Plan 9 was done by a Plan 9 developer. I did the work as a
user of FreeBSD. Only Linux was done by the Xen team. If you or
someone else steps forward, Christian would probably be happy to
answer questions. FreeBSD is too far diverged to really help.
