I checked to see if my insmod in domU was the same as the one in dom0 and they were different. I forgot to pin the domU to stable and it got upgraded to the one in debian unstable. I copied the insmod from dom0 to domU and gave it a try, and it works fine there. Apparently debian unstable has some issues... Sorry for the confusion.
