I use make-kpkg nowadays, but I guess that's just because I'm comfortable with it, and the resulting deb can be applied to multiple machines. The latest gfs I could find (redhat cvs) appears to be external modules, not patches to the kernel. My first attempt at compiling (./configure ; make ) didn't work though.
