[Xen-devel] Compiling XEN 3.0.1 in debug mode?

Dear XEN development team,

How could I proceed for compiling XEN in debug mode, for the purpose of
running it under the control of gdb?? The idea is to run the XEN kernel within an emulator, such as qemu or bochs, and let the emulator act as a gdb server for any
remote gdb client.

We have tried to compile XEN using the command

$ make CC="gcc -g" V=1 CONFIG_DEBUG_INFO=1 world

but this does not generate a binary image with debug info. The .o files
are however compiled in debug mode. Therefore,
the debug info seems to be stripped from the image somewhere...

Or, alternatively, is there another means to early debug XEN at source level??
(I mean , debugging the code right from the beginning, ie from __start_xen)

thanks!

Armand
