Keir,All the likely reasons you pointed out are not likely. I installed the latest mercurial 0.9.3. Then I used hg clone http://xenbits.xensource.com/xen-unstable.hg to pull the whole repository to my local machine. Then I built the Xen. I did not see any build errors when I build xen. I used the latest Xen-unstable.You should find out why the appropriate line in xen/Makefile is failing (it's the one that includes the string "@@changeset@@").
