I am pretty disgusted at the level of 'integration' between many modern distros and the Linux kernel. It used to be you could just drop in whatever kernel you liked, but these days your system may not even boot if you don't have a bleeding-edge kernel. In other words, I would report this bug to Ubuntu or whoever wrote the script.
