  • Thread-topic: save&restore hvm with PV drivers testing report

We have done some testing for save&restore hvm guest with PV drivers,
and the status is not good according to the testing result.
Only UP guest with VBD module inserted on pae host work stable. Other
combinations, such as SMP guest with VBD on pae host, UP and SMP guest
with VNIF on pae host, UP and SMP guest with VBD or VNIF on ia32e host,
could not work well when save&restore.
The detail report is:

Testing Environment:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
cset:                   14753
Combination:            ia32/pae, ia32e/ia32e
host os:                        fc5 smp, rhel4u3 smp
guest os:               rhel4u3
testing box:            Conroe, woodcrest
configurations: vcpus=4, acpi=1, apic=1, memory=256M
Test case summary:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. The workloads in guest are cp for VBD, and scp for VNIF.

Test result:

SMP:

2. VBD save&restore fail while copying files in the guest
3. VNIF save&restore successfully when no workload in the guest
4. VNIF save&restore fail when scp files to another machine
------------------
Ia32e/ia32e:
