Just black screen reverting back to "daemons_name  . . . . . [OK]"  lines
CTRL+ALT+F2 does allow text login as root.
# xm info
looks fine

Yes

Radeon HD 4650

Didn't try

Reverting back to xen/stable (2.6.32.10 in meantime) fixes problem
and provides gnome login to Xen-4.0-rc9 Host.

How does it not start?  If you boot to runlevel 3, does the kernel come up properly?  What graphics card to you have?  Does booting with "nopat" on the kernel command line help?
