I think this is clearer as:

            smfn = unlikely(mfn_x(gmfn) == INVALID_MFN)
                   : _mfn(INVALID_MFN)
                   ? shadow_hash_lookup(d, mfn_x(gmfn), SH_type_l2_pae_shadow);
