Instead of the count down, I would do:
echo -n 'Continue ? (^C to quit) '
read


OR something like:
echo -n 'Continue ? [Yn] '
read answer
[[ "$answer" =~ ^(|Y|y|yes)$ ]] || exit


I don't like to wait.
