Rethinking about it, probably Jan's hint was to add the cast and remove the &. I will fix it in the next patch.

Why the explicit cast on rl? Shouldn’t it work without it?
Yes, the cast is not related to the MISRA rule.
It was requested by Jan in "[XEN PATCH 00/13] xen: fixed violations of MISRA C:2012 Rule 7.2"
to be more consistent with the surrounding code.
