anyone give me help

I want to compile a linux-2.6 kernel for xen  directly with linux
kernel,but not to use the src version on the xen-net.  
I download 2.6version linux ,and do I need something else to compile it
for xen ? 
what should I do to compile it ,
I am a rookie ,I need a step by step guide

I am looking forward to your directions
