i haven't tried it on Xen, but i think the 'special' needs of netatalk
are related to the AppleTalk protocol over Ethernet. you set afpd to use only TCP, even disable the appletalk protocol in the kernel. these days even
Apple makes AppleTalk optional for AppleShare.


yes I know, but we are using several old Apple Systems (Imagesetter, Printers) so I need the "normal" afpd :(


Guess you have to give your appletalking domU a network interface card of its own. What you need is to enable multicast on the nic (which seems not to be able on a virtual interface - I have not tried, but another poster seemed to have this result).

Have a look at pci passthrough, so.
