[Xen-users] dom0 nbd-root problem

Hi Everyone!

I'm trying to make a diskless xen installation using sarge with
xen-hypervisor-3.0-i386, linux-image-2.6.16-2-xen-686 and initrd from
linux-image-2.6.16-2-686-smp (is there no initrd for
linux-image-2.6.16-2-xen-686 ?) with additional modules of 2.6.16-2-xen-686.
Initrd is modified to load network+nbd modules and start nbd-client.

Nbd-module loads fine and a straced nbd-client shows normal behaviour (after
start control is transfered to kernel, nbd-server on the storage serving host
prints message about connection) but mount of /dev/nd0 to /root says 'no such
device' :(. If linux-image-2.6.16-2-686-smp is used with the same initrd it
boots ok. I'm unable to see any differance except the {,non}function.

I've searched the net for info but found only in
http://www.linode.com/xen/irc/logs/xen.log-2005-09-27 someone (jacobg)
mentioning he had done it in the past. This isn't the first nbd-root
installation I've made but it is the first time /dev/nd0 is nonfunctional after
nbd-client starts without error. So it seems to me xen+kernel <-> nbd have a
problem with each other :).

MAYDAY, MAYDAY ...

Any thoughts, infos or pointers to are appreciated.

TIA, Pyrokar
