[Xen-users] Server hangs when starting guest

All,

I've recently started having problems with my Windows Xen guest. Up until recently, it ran fine but as of the latest update of the Fedora Core 5 kernel, it now hangs dom0 when I start a guest. This is with kernel 2.6.17-1.2187_FC5xen0

If I reboot using kernel 2.6.17-1.2157_FC5 then I am able to start a guest. There is no other change beyond this kernel version.

I am still starting the guest as follows:
xm create <guest>

The config file for this guest is at the bottom of the e-mail.

The only relevant messages I can find in /var/log/messages are as follows:

Sep 20 21:57:13 marvin kernel: device vif1.0 entered promiscuous mode
Sep 20 21:57:13 marvin kernel: audit(1158785833.797:5): dev=vif1.0 prom=256 old_

After that I see reboot messages.

My guest config is as follows:

kernel = "/usr/lib/xen/boot/hvmloader"
builder='hvm'
memory = 384
name = "xphell"
vcpus=1
pae=0
acpi=0
apic=0
cpus = ""
vif = [ 'type=ioemu, bridge=xenbr0, ip=192.168.11.3, mac=00:16:3E:1F: 2A:23' ]
# vif = [ 'type=ioemu, mac=00:16:3E:1F:2A:23' ]
#vif = [' ']
disk = [ 'file:/vm/WindowsXP/xphell.img,ioemu:hda,w' ]
on_poweroff = 'destroy'
on_reboot   = 'destroy'
on_crash    = 'destroy'
device_model = '/usr/lib64/xen/bin/qemu-dm'
cdrom='/vm/XP.iso'
boot='c'
sdl=0
vnc=1
vncviewer=0
stdvga=0
serial='pty'
ne2000=0

Any advice on fixing this would be much appreciated!

Some days violence is just a nice quick solution to a problem
that would need thought, planning and actual work to do
