I've remarked it as well that the system stability isn't affected by this.

Yes, must be some special salt that was added to my distro's stock kernel.
I posted it to the lkml, but I think they've got other stuff to do than
caring of old (2.6.16) stuff like this. However, I've seen quite some
lkml threads discussing about irq balancing.

Glad to hear from somebody who also judged it to be harmless.
