I would say when you use --with=ide-generic first it will catch
system basics and you will not get DMA to work. I have tested this on
my system. I have had to "preload" piix and it821x drivers first to
have the DMA available again on all drivers

--preload=piix --preload=it821x

of course this is only a option for those who do not have those
drivers compiled into the kernel or are using rpm from xensourse
download repository.
