That one should have worked.  Typo somewhere maybe?  loop is modular in
10.1, thus changing the kernel command line doesn't help.

Oh, and you don't need to boot.  Just "rmmod loop; modprobe loop" should
do it once the configuration is fixed.  It should also create the device
nodes.
