change above to
hdc:dvd
that should be enough as long as you have the dvd as an iso
cd /home/glenn
dd if=/dev/dvd of=winosdvd.img
its not enough to copy the dvd to the drive it must be an iso9660 file type

instance I've copied
the image to Dom0 file system, but have tried physically
from the dvd also.

but complete file is shown below.
The result of xm create is that ata0 slave is an unknown device, CDROM boot
failure code 0002
