I see nothing wrong with that as such. 

Is there any chance you can check "strings
/usr/lib64/xen/bin/qemu-dm|grep QEMU" - the first line should be the
version number. Is that 0.8.2 or 0.9.0? The latter is apparently having
problems in SOME distributions.
