Hi list members,

this question has been asked a few times, but I didn't find any useful answers.

Is there any possibility to monitor the CPU and IO load of the Xen Hypervisor
respectively of the whole machine?

To my knowledge, the 'xm list' and similar commands are only reporting the
load for particular domU's corresponding to the particular cores and devs they
are bound to.

Well, I could write some script which collects these values and calculates some
"normalized" values. But without deeper knowledge of the hypervisor's scheduler
I'm nonetheless unable to set the results in any senseful relation to the
hardware.

Maybe, I'm asking the wrong question, and the scheduler disallows any load
greater
than the number of cores, but even for this case I would really like to know if
I should add another domU.

Thanks in advance!
