Anyway... linux is just a kernel. The rest are a series of tools to make

Again, i think i have a misunderstanding. I compile Xen 3.1 or xen 3.2 out of the sources on an etch system. ok xen provides a 2.6.18 kernel. this kernel comes with xen an is placed on the xen tree of my system. now i compile the xen kernel.

Cause of hardware problems i got an gentoo 2.6.20-6 xen patched kernel. So i have just to compile the new xen patched kernel, configure grub an everything is all right?

Or is there any relation of the installed xen sources to my patched kernel from gentoo?

Cause during compiling xen, i know there a kernel is downloaded and the patched automaticly. So after this whole prozess i am able to use another kernel and the main point is, the kernel is patched?

greetings Holm
