I personally run Ubuntu 7.04.  I had to do a little magic with libtls, but that was about it.  After a few failed trials, I got it up and running.  My hardware only supports paravirtualization, so I'm not able to comment on HVM performance.  That said, the PV performance has been very good -- I have yet to have Xen or any of my DomUs (Ubuntu 7.04, and one CentOS 5.1 on the way) crash.
