See: http://blogs.sun.com/mrj/ Though you say you've been trying for weeks, so if both OpenSolaris and SXCE are crashing, it must be some other problem. add " -kd" to the options and it should drop you into the kernel debugger. Type "::stack" to see what the stack trace is.
