Actually my error message is the following:

No filesystem could mount root, tried:  cramfs
Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(3,1)
---

I also noticed that when installing using debootstrap, I do not have a
/etc/lilo.conf in my DomU. Could that be part of the problem?
