Solaris? RedHat? Uhm if you going to buy hardware it is worth to thing about sun x86 flavor servers (I'm really enjoy my two x4150 connected via FC to an sun stk 2540), furthermore it is really easy to install Nevada Comunity Express (currently I use build 97). Furthermore Sun XVM Server will be free of charge even in productive use and will be shipped (fully available as free download on suns homepage) with PV drivers for windows, so it may be the most comfortable choice. Especially with two equal servers you could reduce downtimes and additionally enterprise level support contracts are possible depending what you'd like to do.
