Can you resolve common names like google.com , yahoo.com (i.e. via
ping) ? It looks like you have not set up /etc/resolv.conf

If /etc/resolv.conf does not have any entries, try these public name
servers (sample file)

nameserver 4.2.2.1
nameserver 4.2.2.2
nameserver 4.2.2.3

If your resolv.conf is setup, chances are (or it seems like) the entries
within could be lame.
