I highly recommend avoiding the use of the Xen VNC server for non-admin tasks.  
There is a big performance impact with it because of how it interfaces with the 
domU.  Instead, I install VNC inside of the DomU if I really need a GUI.  You 
can also just setup an XServer, which is probably the most efficient way of 
doing this.
