Hello,

I'm unable to run ipmitools on my Xen host:

dpkg -l | grep ipmi

lsmod | grep ipmi
ipmi_devintf 6984 0
ipmi_msghandler 30360 1 ipmi_devintf

- here should be ipmi_si loaded aswell, but doing so I got

modprobe ipmi_si
FATAL: Error inserting ipmi_si
(/lib/modules/2.6.26-2-xen-686/kernel/drivers/char/ipmi/ipmi_si.ko): No such
device

- the file exists:

ls /lib/modules/2.6.26-2-xen-686/kernel/drivers/char/ipmi/ipmi_si.ko
/lib/modules/2.6.26-2-xen-686/kernel/drivers/char/ipmi/ipmi_si.ko

It's a standard "repo" patched xen kernel installed.

modules.dep:

IMHO ipmi were compiled for/with this kernel:

/boot/boot/config-2.6.26-2-xen-686:CONFIG_IPMI_HANDLER=m
/boot/boot/config-2.6.26-2-xen-686:# CONFIG_IPMI_PANIC_EVENT is not set
/boot/boot/config-2.6.26-2-xen-686:CONFIG_IPMI_DEVICE_INTERFACE=m
/boot/boot/config-2.6.26-2-xen-686:CONFIG_IPMI_SI=m
/boot/boot/config-2.6.26-2-xen-686:CONFIG_IPMI_WATCHDOG=m
/boot/boot/config-2.6.26-2-xen-686:CONFIG_IPMI_POWEROFF=m

/boot/config-2.6.26-2-xen-686:CONFIG_IPMI_HANDLER=m
/boot/config-2.6.26-2-xen-686:# CONFIG_IPMI_PANIC_EVENT is not set

/boot/config-2.6.26-2-xen-686:CONFIG_IPMI_WATCHDOG=m
/boot/config-2.6.26-2-xen-686:CONFIG_IPMI_POWEROFF=m

ipmitool sel
Could not enable event receiver: Inappropriate ioctl for device
Get SEL Info command failed

- device exists; ls -liah /dev/ipmi0
1771386 crw------- 1 root root 254, 0 2009-07-15 10:45 /dev/ipmi0

Any Idea?

Regards,

Adrian
