Hello,

I'm unable to run ipmitools on my Xen host:

dpkg -l | grep ipmi

lsmod | grep ipmi
ipmi_devintf 6984 0
ipmi_msghandler 30360 1 ipmi_devintf

- here should be ipmi_si loaded aswell, but doing so I got
modprobe ipmi_si
FATAL: Error inserting ipmi_si
(/lib/modules/2.6.26-2-xen-686/kernel/drivers/char/ipmi/ipmi_si.ko): No such
device

Any Idea?

I have a lot of machine that use IPMI for management. Whenever I get an error on loading the ipmi_si module, it means my ipmi card is dead and needs to be replaced. Kind of a PITA. I would check to see if the IPMI is working over the network. If not, then probably a dead card.
