I am asking for help ;)

There is no /etc/event.d ( with usual content) on Ubuntu Karmic Server (alpha 4) HVM DomU image and "console=hvc0" works even worse the mentioned "console=tty", i.e serial output hangs earlier.

I was unable to find  where tty1,tty2,. . . are located. They were under mentioned folder on Jaunty , Intrepid  DomU's images

Are you asking for help or reporting your progress? Cause I can't
cleary make it from your email :P

Anyway, if you're asking for help, I think

extra="xencons=tty"

doesn't work on your setup, and you need to change it to
"console=hvc0", plus add the required /etc/event.d settings.
