I do have a P5E-VM DO running with VT-d using BIOS 0702.
Good to know it breaks when upgrading, I was tempted to give it a try 
recently...
I do have error messages like this:

But VT-d gets enabled nevertheless and actual pass-through was also 
working the last time I tried...
