Let's see .. Opensolaris has Xen 3.3.1. That may be "modern enough",
depending on your needs.
Xen 3.4 is also available, but you need to compile it first (which is
MUCH harder than compiling Xen on Linux.

With Linux dom0 I'd prefer to use RHEL/Centos5 and install Xen
packages from http://www.gitco.de/repo/. That combination gives
up-to-date Xen (3.4.1) as well as Redhat's well-maintained kernel-xen
(which also contains backported drivers).
Note that with this setup some newer features (like scsi passthru)
will not work due to lack of support in Redhat's kernel-xen, but it
should be suitable for common purposes.
