Compiled the Ubuntu Way - Got kernel image 2.6.31-5-server-xen - dom0.
Minor changes was need to be change in the orig /xen-patches-2.6.31-7.tar.bz2 file to be compatible with my kernel.
I compiled it twice one for Dom0 and one for DomU with the relevant CONFIG_XEN settings.
It looks OK with minor issue on the DOMU complain about PCI space access error. - I still try to figure out what is the problem.
I also disabled the RTC in the domU compile settings and DMI scanning and all the Xen/paravirt_ops settings - since he are using old style here.
I'n not sure - if this is the best way to go, since I still try to understand what is the use of kernel-2.6.18.hq.
And Does the novel patches include new options like PVUSB for example?
10x

Did you apply xen patches to 2.6.31.5 ? If yes from where they come ?
Boris.

Hmm.. dunno if this helps, it's from a user (from #xen) having problems with the opensuse 2.6.31 patches:
