AIUI, letting Xen do the network setup is deprecated - most distros now have 
good tools to manage it, and I believe the Xen scripts are known to have bugs 
and/or be fragile in some cases.

So just leave network-script empty in your Xen config, and configure networking 
in the host OS. Apart from avoiding the Xen scripts, this also means your 
network config will work whether you boot into Xen or just the host OS natively.
