I have installed KVM on the same Box with nested hvm I have installed L1 KVM Hyp and inside I ran the same OS I am trying to run inside ESXi , with one note :
with KVM installed on CentOS 7 while xen4centos is installed on CentOS 6 does this affect the issue in hand ?
Cat /proc/cpuinfo for the L1 Guest confirm the flag svm is there . and also : running virt-host-validate on the L1 Guest confirm HW VT is present and all tests
are passed .

Unfortunately AMD hasn't been actively maintaining nested virtualization on their platform. Our automated testing system runs a nested virtualization test on both AMD and Intel on a regular basis, and the AMD
test is marked as "never passed".
If you can get your hands on an Intel box, you should have better luck.
