This looks like the exact same issue as that described by Vittorio in
https://github.com/mirage/mirage-skeleton/issues/251 and now also confirmed
by a 3rd person (@justinc1), who also confirms the same toolchain behaviour
(works when built on ubuntu 14.04.05, crashes when built on ubuntu
16.04.9).

Looks like a toolchain use of TLS (FS-relative addressing) when we
(Mini-OS) don't support that.

Am looking into it.
