Re: [Wg-test-framework] oseleta[01] apparent BIOS bug (or maybe hardware problem)

Ian,
Good news on the rimava0/1 power supply failures. I decided to void the
warranty and take the power supplies apart to see what failed and to see if
they were identical component failures. Both 5 Amp 250v input fuses were
blown. It looks like the power supplies were overloaded.

As per SuperMicro engineering the ATX power supplies that were used with the
previous MSI motherboards were not sufficient for the Supermicro motherboards.

The new motherboards require a modern up to date ATX power supply with a solid
24 pin power connector. They must adhere to the ATX spec exactly or the supply
will overload.

I ordered new supplies that are designed to work with these motherboards.

I suspect the fact that they were in a hotter environment plus the fact that I
had already plugged in the Network cables, pushed them over the edge. The
bench area we tested them on is very poorly (COLD) heated and very well
ventilated. They might have worked forever on that bench. In the winter you
have to ware a coat to work back there for any length of time. Our hosting
servers are the basic heat source.

We are going to reposition these server to above the ARM crate. It is just too
hard to work on these servers while laying in my belly on the floor.
-------------------------------------------

We updated the oseleta 0/1 BIOS to 2.3.0. We power fail tested these servers
and then rebooted 20+ times without error.

We will try to get them back into the rack by Monday or sooner. We will check
the BIOS settings to make sure all the settings are correct after the update.
