You mean specifically put back usual meanings of 0xffff,0xfffe, and also include 'current' back into the special list at the correct place in the range starting from 0x0f00? Sounds reasonable, I just doubted anyone really uses those numbers. Getting back the 'use current' capability certainly seems reasonable. There's a slight question of what to do if 'no-real-mode' is specified. Currently I assume 80x25 and hope that noone will really need to use that boot option in anger!
