Actually, checking again I see that I overlooked that specific
log entry (I expected them to be all close together, but they
aren't).

It is obvious that on the second restore the kernel passes
bad data to the hypervisor, but I can't tell yet whether that's
the kernel's fault - will need to look more closely.
