I think you've got this backwards, he does have a VIF configured
(device/vif/0) but there appears to be no driver present for it. Jason,
you should check that you have netfront enabled in your kernel config
and that the module (if it is not a statically compiled in driver) is
available to the guest kernel.

BTW, this question would have been better posted to the xen-users list
since it has nothing to do with development.
