Hi All

I have good news all round.

Firstly, I found a newer version of modbin (Modbin6 v2.01.02) that has no problem with the bios file and works fine – I can easily turn on this feature in the BIOS. However...

Secondly, and best of all, all the hard work that was put into pestering Gigabyte has paid off.

I sent a support request to GB asking them to help resolve the issue with the BIOS and then came across this thread. I was fully expecting the standard “not supported at this time” response. What I got was far different. I received their BETA version of the latest BIOS which has the virtualization setting enabled. Magic!

So more than anything, this is to let you know that GB has heard what you guys have been saying and acted accordingly! Hurrah! (And well done to you all). I’m especially happy as I’ve been able to start troubleshooting and find the resolution to the problem in about three days. And that’s due to the work you guys did over the last few months.

So I can assert that BIOS v FDf supports virtualization and I now have full HVM support up and running for my VM’s.

Thanks to all (especially Age_M) for helping make this happen.

I just checked the FB-Version of your bios, and as the FA-Version, the Virtualization option is disabled and hidden too, so just updating the bios won't change anything. If you're willing to take the risk, I can send you the modified FB-Version biosfile I created a few minutes ago, but again I need to say, you can't held me responsible if anything goes wrong. But I can say that the modification went fine, as it did with my bios, and therefore I think it's worth a try. Let me know if you wasn’t to give it a shot.

Hi Age_M

I’d be interested to find out how to torn on this feature. Could you please either:

1.       Provide a hacked version of the FDb BIOS from GB (with instructions on the best way to flash the bios – I’ve only had success by using GB’s Windows based Update App)

2.       Describe how to use modbin to alter the BIOS ROM – I’ve tried to rename the *.fdb file to *.bin but modbin complains of a checksum error. How do I get hold of the bin file to edit it?

Thanks a lot. Any help would be appreciated.
