Re: [Xen-users] debian dom0 centos-5 domU xen-tools copy

Thank you for replying.

I have tried with a prebuilt image file, and it works until...It halts because
of...of what? I don't know, but errors about memory/cpu of this domU.

I have tried to build an image by my own from a mine fresh installation of
centos in an other hard disk, but it happes the same.

I have no problems with all other distros I have tried, paravirtualized and
hvm, just with centos i have errors.

SO what's the "default" best debian to get a rpm bases distros (centos) from a
debian dom0

Thanks again for you patience.

I run debian etch amd64, and i need to create a centos5 domU.

I can't use hvm cause I need to use nat and there's the famous nat bug with
hvm.

I have read that is not good to use the xen-tools rpmstrap.

So how can i install a centos-5 domU?

I have installed in another disk, in the same computer, centos 5.

Is there a way to create a domU from the partition of the disk where i have
a "normal" centos 5 installation?

Yes. You can make your own virtual disk or partition with dd and then copy the
contents of the "normal" centos install to it. (you may need to tweak things to
match, i.e Label's on partitions to fstab etc.) I would give you better
instructions on this, but I am on the run. Let me/the list know if you need
help on that.

Alternatively you could create a CentOS domU with the centos tools,
virt-install et al. and copy the image and the config over and make tweaks (if
needed)

I have read that in xen-tools there are some "copy" options but I don't
have understand if and how to use it.

    Thanks in advance.
