Hi,

I have my applications running on Debian, but I have read up on Xen and learnt that NetBSD-dom0 has the best performance. Could someon suggest the best OS for Xen dom0?

Thanks for your suggestion.

Pete

Hi everyone,

I would really like to have an answer to that too, since I'm just about ready to set up my new system. Since thiss my first try at Xen and I don't want to have to reinstall the dom0 for quiet a while at least, it would help me very much if someone could share his knowledge on that one.

Basic requirements for me are:
- - Good performance on bridges and hdds/images
- - Low memory usage
- - PCI passthrough (with performance as high as possible)
- - Possibility of not letting the OS take the primary VGA (and use a serial port instead)

I basically want to use the dom0 as a link to Xen only, it does not have to do anything but manage the VMs and the stuff they need. The systems I have considered until now are Ubuntu Server/Debian (because I know these system very well and they could use the repository cache), a minimal Gentoo (because of the possible optimization) and CentOS (because for whatever reason it seems to be very popular with Xen users). Any thoughts on which one would do best? Or is there another system that will do better?

Thanks,

Paul.
