post scripts for kernel package call /sbin/new-kernel-pkg which in turn
calls grubby to update grub.conf in Fedora, CentOS and like minded
distributions which copies the kernel arguments of the running to the
new kernel line in grub.conf . Not sure how this is in Debian, sorry.
Debian gurus?
