i think it's best to treat DomU's as real machines, and do networked backups.

trying to backup the storage form Dom0 without cooperation from DomU
opens a lot of inconsistency issues. (the filesystem isn't cleanly
unmounted, data files might not be completely written, DBs aren't
flushed, etc)
