Hi.
I’ve noticed that WinXP within Xen HVM can be booted only when cdrom
is hdc drive.
Try it:
'phy:/dev/scd0,hdc:cdrom,r'
That works for me.

Subject: [Xen-users] Fwd: WinXP HVM access to CDROM ?
Hello,
I'm running Xen 3.2.1-rc1 - the version of Xen which comes with
Ubuntu 8.04
I have a WindowsXP domU running fine using HVM (config below).
However I cannot seem to get to to access the CD/DVD drive.
My CD/DVD drive is /dev/scd0
My domU config line is:
disk = [ 'phy:/dev/loop17,ioemu:hda,w', 'phy:/dev/scd0,xvdc:cdrom,r'
,]
But windows does not detect the CDROM.
I've tried xm block-attach ing this device but no difference.
xm block-attach 3 phy:/dev/scd0 /dev/xvda2 r
Can anyone tell me what the correct device naming should be for a HVM windows
install running under Xen 3.2.1 ?
I do not care for the CD/DVD in Ubuntu - I just want to dedicate it to the
Windows VM,
Cheers,
Paul
